This annual EEO Report is filed on behalf of KSUM/KFMC, in compliance with the FCC’s EEO reporting requirements. KSUM/KFMC is an independent owned radio station located in Fairmont, Minnesota.

Job Vacancy Information

KSUM/KFMC is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to meeting KSUM/KFMC’s EEO information dissemination obligations. All full-time job vacancies were posted with several sources, including local organizations, schools and newspapers. KSUM/KFMC’s list of recruitment sources have been updated and will use for every full-time vacancy.

KSUM/KFMC will continue to actively seek out new recruitment sources. KSUM/KFMC encourages organizations that distribute employment information or refer prospective candidates to contact us so that they may be placed on our mailing list to receive notification of future vacancies.


Record Keeping

In compliance with the EEO record keeping requirements KSUM/KFMC. created a file for each position to be filled. The file contained copies of the job listings for all sources used to recruit interviewees for the position. In addition, KSUM/KFMC has documented the non-vacancy specific outreach initiatives. These files include the nature and date of each activity, the scope of KSUM/KFMC’s participation and the names and titles of KSUM/KFMC. personnel involved.

Recruitment for Positions Filled

During the reporting period December 1, 2010 through December 1, 2011, there has been 1 job vacancies at KSUM/KFMC. Announcements of the jobs were posted in local newspapers, at the local Workforce Center, various broadcast internet sites, and advertising placed on the stations.

KSUM/KFMC will regularly assess and improve recruitment methods and sources by analyzing their effectiveness and making changes as appropriate.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2011, Dan Brookens represented Woodward Broadcasting at the Area Career Exploration event held at Fairmont High School. This job fair hosted more than 400 students from six area high schools. At the event, Dan answered questions about employment opportunities in broadcasting and at KSUM-KFMC specifically. Interested parties were encouraged to fill out a job application and set up a possible interview.


BROADCAST VACANCIES IN 2011:

In 2011, Woodward Broadcasting, KSUM-KFMC radio, had one full-time job opening.

Tonya Aukes was hired as a full-time announcer on November 20, 2011. Tonya was hired after a two-month long process that included advertising of the position in all the aforementioned outreach sources. More than 100 applications were received for the position, from which five interviews were conducted, three over the phone and two in person.

Also in 2011, two part-time announcers were hired. Melissa Ferguson, a student at Fairmont High School, was hired in June and Tyler Jones was hired in August.
