Senator Julie Rosen, chief author of the stadium proposal that is a product of an 18-month bipartisan working group said Wednesday that she is open to options that would resolve the end of session questions. However, she continues to believe that the currently sitting on the Senate floor, is the best and most thorough plan for the state of Minnesota.

“The stadium bill has been through five Senate committees, received
25 hours of hearings and is poised for a Senate vote next week,” Rosen said. “The journey to get to this point has been long, with many twists and turns. We have considered many site and funding proposals, and before us is the best workable bill to date.”

Rosen added that she is appreciative of new ideas that contribute to the plan and improve the chances of passage this session. However, she was not involved in the proposal introduced on Tuesday and not convinced that major changes to the current bill would be acceptable to all parties involved.

Rosen continued: “The people of Minnesota are telling me that they want a stadium. Minnesotans want a first-class facility that not only will be the home of our beloved Vikings for generations, but also a stadium that is used by the entire state. They want a stadium that will attract a Super Bowl, Final Four, and provide opportunities for amateur sports, high school sporting events and other organizations.

“It is imperative that we complete the passage of this bill to get people to work, to secure our major league football team, and complete our commitment to improving the quality of life in Minnesota.”
