THE FAIRMONT HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY MONDAY MET TO DISCUSS A FEW ITEMS. PROGRESS ON THE NEWEST DUPLEX PROJECT AT 1217/1219 NORTH PRAIRIE IS NOW ON SCHEDULE DESPITE GETTING A TWO WEEK SLOW START DUE TO SOME ISSUES. THE COMPLETION DATE IS SET FOR NOVEMBER 19.
DIRECTOR RUTH LEWIS CLOVER SAID SHE HAS HAD SOME PEOPLE CLAIMING TO BE HOMELESS INQUIRING ABOUT HOUSING AT FREINDSHIP VILLAGE. SHE TELLS THEM ABOUT THE LONG WAITING LIST AND THE PRIORITY LIST OF ELDERLY, HANDICAPPED AND DISABLED BEING CONSIDERED FIRST. SHE SAY SHE DOES REFER THEM TO OTHER LOW INCOME AFFORDABLE HOUSING LOCATIONS.
THE AUTHORITY IS STILL AWAITING WORD FROM H U D ON THE SALE OF THE 80 BY 100 FOOT PROPERTY TO A DEVELOPER OF A PROJECT ON STATE STREET AT THE FORMER KERR-MCGEE/SMOKIN JOE'S LOCATION. CITY ADMINISTRATOR MIKE HUMPAL SAYS THAT H U D HAS THE PURCHASE AGREEMENT AND APPRAISAL DOCUMENTS THEY NEED TO APPROVE.
DIRECTOR CLOVER REPORTED TO THE H R A THAT SHE RECIEVED THE SALES TAX REFUND OF 6,297 DOLLARS FROM THE STATE FOR THE TILDEN STREET DUPLEX. SHE EXPECTS ABOUT HE SAME AMOUNT ON THE NEW PRAIRIE AVENENUE PROJECT.
