State Sen. Julie Rosen of Fairmont will serve as the top Republican member on the Health & Human Services Finance Committee for the 2013-14 Legislative Session. Rosen, who was recently re-elected to her fourth term, will also serve on the Health, Human Services & Housing, Capital Investment, and Environment & Energy committees. "I look forward to challenges as Minnesota begins to make changes under federal health care reform and to implement President Obama and Gov. Dayton's plans," she said. "I will continue to keep Minnesota taxpayers and families as my top priority." The legislative session begins on January 8. Although the state budget forecast released in December unveiled a total positive balance of over $2.5 billion for the current biennium, it also projected a $1.1billion deficit for the 2014-15 biennium. Balancing the state's budget for the next two-year budget calendar is expected to be the primary focus this year at the State Capitol. Rosen was re-elected in November to the newly reconfigured Senate District 23, which includes Blue Earth, Waseca, Martin, Jackson, Watonwan and Faribault Counties. She welcomes comments and questions and can be reached by phone at (651) 296-5713, by mail at 139 State Office Building, St. Paul, MN 55155, or via e-mail at sen.julie.rosen@senate.mn. ###
