THE FAIRMONT SCHOOL BOARD APPROVED 40 RECIPIENTS FOR PARTNERS IN EDUCATION AND HUNT FUND GRANTS FOR THIS YEAR. THE PROPOSALS WERE RECEIVED FROM HIGH SCHOOL, ELEMENTARY AND SPECIAL EDUCATION STAFF. THE GRANT SELECTION COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED FULL FUNDING FOR ALL BUT TWO OF THE PROPOSALS WHICH ARE BEING PARTIALLY FUNDED. HUNT FUND GRANTS AMOUNTED TO 40,000 DOLLARS AND PARTNERS IN EDUCATION 16,000 DOLLARS THIS YEAR.

THE BOARD ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATION OF BILL VADER , A TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT TECHNICIAN AT FAIRMONT ELEMENTARY EFFECTIVE ON FEB. 1 THIS YEAR. HE HAS ACCEPTED A POSITION WITH SOUTH CENTRAL TECHNICAL COLLEGE IN MANKATO. BILL VADER HAS BEEN EMPLOYED AT FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOLS SINCE 2004.

THE SCHOOL BOARD ACCEPTED A 500 DOLLAR DONATION TO THE DISTRICT FROM CENEX HARVEST STATES IN SUPPORT OF THE SCHOOL'S ATHLETIC AND FINE ARTS DEPARTMENTS. FAIRMONT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RECEIVED $364.15 FROM KEMPS "NICKELS FOR SCHOOLS" PROGRAM WHEREBY SCHOOLS RECEIVE MONEY FOR BOTTLE TOPS COLLECTED FROM MILK CARTONS. 50 DOLLARS WAS GIVEN TO E C F E AND $314.50 WAS DONATED TO P E T T ( PARENTS AND EDUCATORS TEAMING TOGETHER).
