THE FAIRMONT SCHOOL BOARD MET FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE NEW YEAR ON TUESDAY. FIRST UP WAS THE OATH OF OFFICE FOR THOSE WHO WERE ELECTED TO THE SCHOOL BOARD IN NOVEMBER- JULIE LAUE AND DAN BROOKENS WHO RETURN TO THE BOARD AND NICOLE GREEN WHO IS A NEW BOARD MEMBER THIS YEAR.

AFTER THE OATH WAS GIVEN THE BOARD ELECTED OFFICERS FOR THE NEW YEAR. DIANE GERHARDT WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT AND MYRON MOELLER VICE PRESIDENT. DAN BROOKENS WILL CONTINUE AS CLERK AND JULIE LAUE AT TREASURER.

WHEN THE BOARD GOT SETTLED IN THEY APPROVED A PROPOSAL FOR AUTOMATION CONTROL SERVICES FROM U H L OF MAPLE GROVE ,MINNESOTA TO PROVIDE SERVICE TO THE FAIRMONT ELEMENTARY AND FAIRMONT JR./SR. HIGH SCHOOL. THE THREE YEAR CONTRACT IS FOR 46,180 DOLLARS. THE COMPANY WILL INSPECT MAINTAIN AND TROUBLESHOOT 595 SEPARATE BUILDING AUTOMATION CONTROLS IN THE DISTRICT THAT PRESENT STAFF IS NOT QUALIFIED TO DO.

THE BOARD ALSO APPROVED A PROPOSAL FROM I & S GROUP OF MANKATO AND ALGONA TO DEHUMIDFY THE MAIN GYM AT FAIRMONT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THE COST NOT TO EXCEED 75,000 DOLLARS WILL BE FUNDED WITH REMAINING ALTERNATIVE FACILITY BONDS.
