The Fairmont High School Athletic Hall of Fame is scheduled to return this fall as a part of the Fairmont Cardinals Homecoming activities.
The 20th Hall of Fame banquet will feature a catered dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, in the high school's commons before moving to the Performing Arts Center for the 6:15 p.m. induction ceremony and recognition of this school year's most valuable players.
Nomination forms for the Hall of Fame are available at the Fairmont High School's activities office. The deadline for nominations for this fall's induction class will be March 1.
Nominees must be Fairmont High School graduates and fall into one of the following categories to be considered for selection:
1. Earned a letter in more than one sport or at least two letters in the same sport;
2. Played on an all-conference, all-section or all-state team;
3. Earned individual honors from a conference, section, state or media outlet.
Athletes for consideration must be out of high school for a minimum of 15 years, while coaches must be retired for at least 5 years. The Hall of Fame also features a special contributors category for community coaches, volunteers, support workers and media.
